Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

3-4 year olds will be eligible for EYPP if your child receives the universal 15 hours entitlement and their family gets any one of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on, which is paid for 4 weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit – For places starting in the summer term of 2018 (on or after 1st April 2018), or any subsequent term, if a parent is entitled to Universal Credit they must have an annual net earned income equivalent to and not exceeding £7,400, assessed on up to three of the parent’s most recent Universal Credit assessment periods.
  • they are currently being looked after by a local authority in England or Wales
  • they have left care in England or Wales through:
    • an adoption order
    • a special guardianship order
    • a child arrangements order

If they are eligible the nursery will be funded £302.10 per year.  This money is to be spent directly on your child, reflecting an aspect of learning your child would benefit support with.  One such example could be the purchase of additional physical activity resources to support the child’s development of physical skills as this has been identified as an area for development.  The spending of this money is checked to ensure that it has been directly spent on provision for your child.

If you feel your child is entitled to this additional money to support their learning, please ensure we have your national insurance number and date of birth for both parents living at the home address.

East Sussex County Council has created a tool to search what funding streams you may be eligible for: ‘childcare choices’ by following the link provided.  This is an interactive too that will support you in understanding which funding streams you can apply for.
