At Meadows Nursery School, Langney we have the fantastic opportunity to offer all of our pre-school children beach school learning. Children will enjoy 12 weeks of beach school learning at our beach school facilities on Eastbourne beach.
Providing experiences for children as they discover the awe and wonder of the world
The beach school curriculum takes the form of a holistic approach to learning and development, offering a mixture of:
- learning the skills of problem-solving
- creativity
- specific skills and knowledge related to beach activities, such as tying knots, rock pooling, and tide/water safety
- embedding the skills and knowledge of the 7 areas of learning and development as part of the beach school ethos. Learning their normal curriculum through the outdoor environment.
The aim of Beach School is to develop a deep connection with nature, through playful and focused learning experiences. Children are given time and space to explore and discover things for themselves alongside ‘knowledgeable others’, including our specialist Beach School nursery practitioners.
The beach school has created its own community as the children are well known with all the local shops along the pier. Children thoroughly enjoy emerging themselves in the world beyond nursery, gaining a new, insight into the world around them.
