Kitchen fires accounted for 297 of the 508 accidental household fires to which East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service responded during 2018

 

 

There are many things we can do to reduce the risk of fire. As highlighted by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, the following six simple steps can go a long way to making your home safer.

Smoke Alarms: Protect your home with working smoke alarms. Install them on every floor and test them every week.

  4. Make Sure You Sleep Safe: You are more at risk from fire when asleep. A night time routine will help keep you and your family safe. Here’s a quick checklist
  5. Plan a Safe Escape: Make sure you know how to get out in an emergency. Don’t forget everyone needs to know the plan. Create and practice your plan, starting here
