Bluebell Leavers

Every year we have to sadly say goodbye to our wonderful Bluebell children leaving to go on to school.

As part of this special time, the children have fun at a graduation ceremony and a leavers party.  This is a great chance for the children to receive their leaver’s packs and their special graduation photographs with their family and friends.

Many of the children go off to a local school and we always love hearing how they have got on when we see them later in the year.

At the Meadows, it is important to us that the children are fully supported in their transition to school.  With this in mind, we provide them with a ‘transition’ journey which includes:

  • Teacher visits from the school they are moving onto.  This is a wonderful opportunity for them to meet their new teachers.
  • A transition report that passes onto the local school.  This supports their new teacher in understanding what they can do, what they need support with and their interests.
  • A school passport to support them in gaining the ‘key’ skills needed for when they go on to school.
  • Lot’s of activities based around school, such as trying on school uniform, circle time discussions and learning what their new school might be like.
  • Lists of children and the schools they are moving onto, allowing ‘buddy groups’ to be formed.
  • Further enhancing and supporting the skills of independence that will give the child the confidence they need to learn.
  • Providing a support network for parents, ensuring they understand the next steps their child will be going through and what this might mean for them, for instance, what behaviour challenge might they start seeing.
